Man accused of trying to set exgirlfriend's car on fire

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man was arrested this week after Memphis Police say he assaulted his ex-girlfriend and attempted to set her car on fire.
On Wednesday, a female victim told officers that she'd gotten into an altercation with her ex-boyfriend Rodrakus Wilkins.

She said that when she came home, Wilkins pulled up in a stolen car and allegedly began to chase her while armed with a handgun.
She told officers that she tried to run back to her car but Wilkins pushed her away and then poured gasoline in the driver's seat.
Wilkins allegedly pulled out a lighter and tried to ignite the gasoline but could not get it to burn.
The victim said she tried to call the police when Wilkins took her phone and destroyed it.
He fled before officers arrived.

According to the police report, the victim had made two previous reports against Wilkins.
The most recent one was the day before when she claimed Wilkins allegedly assaulted her and had come to her apartment repeatedly over the last 48 hours attempting to assault her again.
She told officers that Wilkins had been calling her repeatedly, threatening her and it made her "extremely fearful" for her safety.
Police say the victim's vehicle was not damaged. Her broken phone was valued at $300.
