PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The wife of a US Army veteran who died of cancer in 2019 said she uses his love of children to honor his memory during the holiday.
Sgt. Jonnathon DuClau was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2018 linked to his service in Iraq.
After his death, his wife Amanda started a nonprofit in his memory that aims to serve veterans families throughout the year.
This year, they adopted two veterans families who received gifts at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, while three other Rhode Island families had gifts delivered to their homes.
The group also hosts a “motorcycle run” near Jonnathon’s birthday in August and offers scholarships for the children of veterans.
More information on the nonprofit can be found here.
