SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Winter officially starts this weekend and it's been a slow go so far this season when it comes to snow in KELOLAND. But with the help of Alberta clippers over the past couple of weeks, I've added to my snowfall prediction. Here's where I stand so far. As we've been slowly adding to these numbers, we are still below a half foot. This is at a time of year when the average snowfall for the season is near a foot. We're not even halfway to our seasonal average. As you can see, I can use some help in Rapid City, as only 2.5" has fallen there and I predicted 47. But we know how quickly that can be made up. Sioux Falls holiday events before Christmas Temperatures will be warm next week and we'll melt a lot of whatever snow we have on the ground. I really don't expect to put a dent into any of those numbers until the new year. That's when I expect temperatures to turn colder. For KELOLAND weather, I'm Meteorologist Scot Mundt.
