PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) -- An Albemarle District Jail officer has been charged for bringing contraband into the facility and giving it to an inmate. On Thursday, Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office investigators determined Egypt Zyaire Coston, 22, of Hertford, distributed tobacco and an electronic device to an inmate. Photo Courtesy: Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office Coston was arrested and charged with providing phone/electronic device to inmate and two counts of providing tobacco/vapor product to inmate. “Following the investigation and the charges brought against Ms. Coston, she is no longer employed at Albemarle District Jail. Detention officers are held to a higher standard of conduct, and any actions that jeopardize the safety and well-being of individuals in custody at Albemarle District Jail are unacceptable and will not be tolerated," said Albemarle District Jail Administrator M. Wheelbarger in a statement. Coston was given a $3,000 secured bond.
