Courtesy of AlphaMedia USA Lincoln.LINCOLN–(KFOR Dec. 20)–Mari Shumaker scored a game-high 20 points, by scoring 13 second half points and the Lincoln Southeast boys basketball team secured another victory over a city opponent, as the Knights defeated Lincoln East 63-48 on Friday night at the East Gym. Southeast (4-1) used an 11-0 run from the end of the third and into the fourth quarter to pull away from East, who had dictated the tempo for most of the game.  The Knights took advantage of finding open shots in the third quarter, sparked by a Gavin Kubik three-pointer with 5:25 left for a 32-25 lead. East (2-5) then responded with Hudson Grau scoring six straight points that pulled the Spartans to within a point, 32-31, with four minutes remaining.  Kubik responded with another three-pointer to extend the Southeast lead back to four and East countered with a Jack Lowell basket before the Knights started out on an 10-0 run, sparked by a Shumaker basket, then Rowan Lambert’s three-pointer and three free throws and Prospedi Mukendi’s free throws for a 45-33 lead going into the early part of the fourth quarter. Shumaker scored nine points in the final quarter that saw Southeast outscore East 20-15. Mukendi added 13 points and Lambert finished with 12 points in the Knights’ victory. East was led by Grau’s 12 points and Kyle Campbell came off the bench to score 10 points before he fouled out. After East’s initial 12-11 lead, Southeast attacked the basket with Shumaker and Mukendi combining to score nine points in the second quarter and had a 25-22 advantage over the Spartans at halftime.
