Before Friday's game, Davis recorded 78 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 17 sacks and 30 quarterback hurries, according to MaxPreps. The Whirlie offense also boasted a variety of weapons including junior tight end DJ Howerton, a three-star recruit in the Class of 2026 and the 26th-best player in the state of North Carolina, according to 247Sports. The Whirlies started the championship with a 14-0 lead that never faltered.
