Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade moves to Canyons Village

Holiday traditions range from driving around looking at lights, singing carols through neighborhoods or locking the doors and turning off the lights.One tradition is the annual Christmas Eve torchlight parade that literally lights up the slopes. This year, the parade will move from Park City Mountain to Canyons Village, said Emily McDonald, Park City Mountain communications manager, during an email exchange with The Park Record.In addition, Santa Claus will make an appearance, she said.The festivities will start at 5 p.m. on Tuesday night, and the event is free and open to the public, according to McDonald. See the exchange below.Park Record: Who participates in the actual torchlight parade?Emily McDonald: Members of our Ski and Ride School team and Santa participate in the parade.P.R.: Where does the parade start, run and end?E.M.: The parade begins at the top of Over and Out at 6 p.m. and will heads down from the top of Over and Out to the Canyons Village Ski BeachP.R.: Will there be any concessions available for guests during that time?E.M.: Complimentary cookies and cocoa will be available while supplies last.P.R.: What time will Santa arrive?E.M.: Santa arrives at the end of the parade — just after 6 p.m.P.R.: Can parents and families take their own photos with Santa?E.M.: Photos with Santa will be available, (and) families are encouraged to take their own photos.P.R.: What does it mean to the resort to continue an event that has become a tradition to local residents and visitors?E.M.: Our torchlight parade has been a Park City tradition for nearly 60 years, (and) our entire team is excited to continue to host this welcoming and magical event for the community.Christmas Eve Torchlight ParadeWhen: 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 24
