Man arrested after early morning shooting in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said a man was arrested after an early morning shooting on Dec. 21.
31-year-old Pedro Javier Gonzalez Olmo was charged with assault and battery, assault by means of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and improper storage.
Shortly before 1 a.m. police responded to the Taco Bell on Coggeshall Street for a report of shots fired.
They found an adult male victim who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a suspect who had since fled the scene.
Police said that an investigation alleges that an argument between two female customers that escalated to being physical.
The victim then exchanged words with the suspect, who shot him.
Olmo’s weapons were also seized when he was arrested.
