Cleveland County DA Greg Mashburn announces retirement, Gov. Stitt names successor

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Governor Kevin Stitt has named the next District Attorney for District 21 after longtime DA Greg Mashburn announced his retirement on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Jennifer Pointer Austin was appointed as the next DA for District 21, which encompasses Cleveland, Garvin and McClain Counties. She first began working as a prosecutor in the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office, where she helped found the Domestic Violence Prosecution Team.

Austin then joined the District 21 office under Mashburn in 2007, working with the Major Crimes Team and later the Special Victims' Team to prosecute child and adult sexual abuse cases. In 2022, she became First Assistant District Attorney and managed daily operations while continuing to prosecute homicide cases.
Austin will take office after Mashburn's retirement on March 1.
