Man Gets Prison Time For Stabbing LPD Officer at Bus Depot

(Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Dec. 20)–A Chicago man convicted of stabbing a Lincoln Police officer during a confrontation at a north Lincoln bus depot in October 2023 was sentenced Friday to 30 to 45 years in prison.
Simon Kafka, 28, already has 430 days credit for time served. Kafka had no money to buy a bus ticket at the Bus Depot near 52nd and Superior and refused to get off the bus he was on at the time. LPD said Kafka didn’t comply with officers’ orders, which led to a fight and him pulling out a knife, stabbing an officer in the neck.
Kafka then tried to reach for the officer’s gun, which prompted another officer to fire a shot. Kafka was taken to a Lincoln hospital and later booked into jail.
