Much of the commonwealth is expecting a brief bout of winter weather Friday afternoon into Saturday. Anthony Richey is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Jackson. He said most of the white stuff will arrive in far eastern Kentucky late Friday afternoon. “It’ll start to slowly taper off after that, and it’ll the majority of the snow, especially accumulating snow, is going to be confined to the higher terrain along the Virginia border, and points just west of there.” Richey said flurries will likely continue Saturday, with less than half an inch of accumulation in most places – and there’s good news for motorists. “It looks like the roads are going to mostly remain clear below 2,000 feet in elevation, just because they’re going to be too warm for the snow to really accumulate.
