Yale New Haven Health announced on Friday a five-year, $500,000 unrestricted gift to Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, in support of the health center’s Recovery and Wellness Center and ​“advancing health equity.”The Recovery and Wellness Center, located at 149 Minor St., is set to be 52-bed addiction recovery center that will provide wraparound medical services for patients suffering with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental illnesses. It’ll be the first residential recovery center in Connecticut to have beds specifically allocated for women.The $38 million center is next to South Central Rehabilitation Center and will also provide career services for patients.Health and city officials gathered in June for a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the three-story facility, though it has yet to open. Construction began in 2022.“We know unmet behavioral health care needs have increased demands on hospitals and health systems across the continuum of care, which is why these types of strategic partnerships are so important,” YNHHCEO Christopher O’Connor is quoted as saying in a Friday press release. ​“Yale New Haven Health is proud to support the work of Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center as it addresses critical behavioral health needs with this integrated care model in our community.” Cornell Scott-Hill Health CEO Michael R. Taylor thanked YNHH for the gift. ​“We have all experienced the acute need for integrated medical and behavioral health services, exacerbated by the pandemic, and share an unwavering commitment to address health care needs comprehensively and equitably.”
