The victim had a fentanyl toxicity level of 4.0 ng/mL in his system at his death, according to officials.
Toney said that helps save another life by taking a drug dealer off the streets:
No amount of prison is ever enough for a parent that had to bury their child from a fentanyl overdose. We pray it offers them justice and helps save another life by taking another drug dealer off our streets. Fentanyl continues to devastate our communities and we stand with all families that have been impacted by the opioid epidemic and deadly effects of fentanyl, especially as they feel the loss of a loved one during this Christmas and Holiday season.

Schmidt-Rehbein was not the only one sentenced for this incident. Maison Springston was sentenced to seven years in prison and Donavyn Mueller, who reportedly was the primary source of the drugs, is scheduled to be sentenced on February 7.
The case was investigated by the Ripon Police Department.
