Dec 20, 2024
(WFRV) - A man from southern Wisconsin was arrested in Florida while he was on a work trip for possession of child pornography.
According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, a 26-year-old man from Burlington was arrested after getting three cyber-tips regarding the possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. On December 20, authorities served a search warrant on the suspect's home but did not find the man at the residence. It was learned that he was at a hotel in Florida for a work trip.
An arrest warrant was issued for the man for ten counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Authorities in Florida quickly found the man and arrested him.
The release also mentioned that there could be more criminal charges in Florida after the suspect was found with more electronic devices that could have child pornography.
I commend the assistance provided by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Starting with a single unsolicited telephone call, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office provided resources, manpower, and forensic equipment to take this pervert off the streets. I also commend the prosecutors at the Racine DA’s Office who quickly got the fully extraditable arrest warrant into the system. Neither time nor geography will deter law enforcement from catching and punishing pedophiles.
