Residential fire in Appleton causes $8,000 in damage, sends one to hospital

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - A house fire in Appleton reportedly sent one to the hospital and caused around $8,000 in damage.
According to the Appleton Fire Department, on December 18 around 8 a.m., crews were sent to a residential fire in the 1800 block of South Walden Avenue. Officials say that smoke and flames were seen coming from the bathroom.
When crews got to the scene, residents were evacuated and told authorities the fire was put out. The home was reportedly filled with smoke.

One resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation and was sent to a local hospital. There were no other reported injuries.
Officials are reportedly working to find out what caused the fire. The estimated amount of damage was $8,000.
