BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Bakersfield College is increasing its security measures by installing security cameras across its campus, the college said through a news release Friday.
College officials said cameras will be "strategically placed throughout the campus" and will serve as a deterrent to potential incidents.
However, the release did not specify what areas on campus will be surveilled.

The decision to add cameras comes from its ongoing commitment to provide a secure campus for students, faculty, staff and visitors, the release said.
We are committed to providing a safe and accessible campus for our community. The new camera system is part of our broader strategy to create a welcoming space where students can thrive.
