Springfield police seize illegal firearm after shots fired call

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - On Thursday night, Springfield officers arrested two men after receiving a call of shots being fired on Fort Pleasant Avenue, seizing a large-capacity firearm from the scene.
At around 8:45 p.m., officers arrived at an apartment building on the 0-100 block of Fort Pleasant Ave. They discovered evidence in a nearby alley, leading them to bullet holes in an apartment's door and window. Upon entering, Springfield police said that bullet holes were also inside the apartment, where they found Ivan Brewster Jr. and Jahleo Paquin.

A large-capacity firearm was found inside the apartment, as well as ammunition from Brewster and crack cocaine from Paquin. The officers arrested both men and seized the gun, making it the 310th illegal firearm seized by the Springfield Police Department in 2024.
