[1] New Mexico woman who killed 2 in wrong-way crash sentenced to life in prison – Convicted of murder in the wrong-way freeway crash that killed a Santa Fe police officer and retired Las Vegas firefighter, Jeannine Jaramillo will spend life behind bars. Jaramillo was given two life sentences for the murders, along with another three years for other crimes tied to the conviction. Now 49 years old, Jaramillo led police into a wrong-way car chase on I-25 near Santa Fe in 2022 after claiming she’d been held hostage by an ex-boyfriend. Retired Firefighter Frank Lovato and Santa Fe Police Department Officer Robert Duran crashed into each other during that chase and both died as a result.
[2] FBI offers reward for information on gunman who killed ABQ tattoo shop owner – The FBI is offering a reward for information that can help identify and convict the person who killed the owner of Por Vida Tattoo shop in Albuquerque. To help track down the killer, the FBI also released videos of the suspect from the day of the shooting. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in this crime.
[3] Mild & dry in New Mexico until Christmas – Seasonably cold air has been the big story on Autumn’s last morning with dry air despite some passing clouds. The change in winds in Southeast New Mexico will provide noticeably lower afternoon temperatures, but otherwise, high similar temperatures will either be close to or slightly higher than yesterday, especially in the Four Corners, still above normal for all. Despite a couple of very slight cooldowns ahead being accompanied by slightly lighter winds, generally warmer weather will continue through earlier next week.
[4] Albuquerque Balloon Museum looking to add outdoor play exhibit – The museum is now working to raise millions for the kid-focused idea that they hope to break ground on next year. It’s a project the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum has been eyeing for years. The museum said the project would be built out in two phases, with an elevated walkway and balloon tower coming first, followed by shade structures, decorations, and special lighting. The city has added the project to its capital outlay funding requests, which they’ll send to lawmakers next month.
[5] Albuquerque International Sunport offering flights to Angel Fire – Advanced Air will offer daily flights from the Albuquerque International Sunport to the Colfax County Airport five days a week.
