Man pleads guilty to killing girlfriend in front of their children
Dec 20, 2024
KERSHAW, SC – A Lancaster County man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend.
The deadly shooting happened in front of their children at a home in Kershaw on December 11, 2022.
Deputies responded to the home on West 3rd Street around 11:45am that day. A neighbor who called 911 said four children ran to their home and said their father shot their mother, 34-year-old Christy Rozier.
When investigators arrived, they say 41-year-old Hurley Braddy, Jr. walked out of the house and was taken into custody.
Deputies went inside the home and found a fifth child, a one-year-old, sitting in a highchair in the kitchen.
Jury selection began Monday for Braddy’s murder trial. Opening statements were set to begin on Tuesday, but Braddy pled guilty as charged before that could happen.
The judge then sentenced Braddy to 30 years in prison.
