HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Myrtle Beach man and Georgetown County elementary school employee has been arrested and is accused of possessing child sexual abuse material, the South Carolina Attorney General's Office said Friday.
Nathan Chad Horsley, 47, was charged with five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Thursday, where he remains without bond set.
Horsley is an employee at McDonald Elementary School and was placed on administrative leave on Thursday, the school district said.
"This morning, Georgetown County School District administration learned through public records of specific charges filed in Horry County against one of our employees from McDonald Elementary School," the statement reads. "Prior to this, on Dec. 18, the district was contacted by local law enforcement in an attempt to locate the employee; the employee was not at work. Subsequently, GCSD was notified that night of the employee's arrest for active warrants. The employee was placed on administrative leave on Dec. 19 while the district sought further information on the nature of the charges."
The district continued in its statement, saying it cannot comment on any investigations and has not been contacted by the prosecuting law enforcement agency as of this writing.
Horsley could face up to 10 years in prison for each count. The Horry County Sheriff's Office, Georgetown County Sheriff's Office and the US Secret Service assisted in his arrest.
