Widespread fog Friday, pleasant conditions continue through the weekend
Dec 20, 2024
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Fog created limited visibility in rural area of Kern County with multiple school districts issuing fog delays Friday.
A warming trend is expected Friday afternoon, but that all depends if clouds clear through the area. If not, expect cooler temps.
Saturday is also looking warm and mild, with highs once again in the low 70s for the valley, Kern River Valley and Kern Desert, with some passing clouds with a quick system moving north of Kern County that day.
Weather Wednesday: Winter begins Saturday
Brief ridging will provide calm and stable weather once again, with high passing clouds, Sunday into Monday, but I'll drop temperatures down to the 60s that day with an increasing onshore flow bringing fresh ocean air onshore.
The forecast is still looking exciting for Christmas Eve, with a stronger and much wetter storm taking aim at Central California Tuesday into Wednesday.
For now, it looks like that storm is tapping into subtropical moisture, which would mean more rain than average, but also very high snow levels. So for now we'll raise that snow level forecast up to 7,000 feet for the Sierra to our north, and call for just rain in our local mountain communities as Santa comes to town.
