ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Light snow showers are moving in today and temperatures are holding in the low 30s and upper 20s. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE REGION (EXCEPT YATES COUNTY) FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. Area-wide snow moves through this afternoon, but accumulation will only be on the order of an inch or two through midnight. Expect heavier snow into early Saturday. That is when we could see several inches of snow with slow travel. Cold air takes over Sunday with wind chills near zero. Monday is quiet and still cold with a morning temperature in the single digits. Some partial sun will allow for highs to get in the middle 20s. Our next system is a slow moving boundary Tuesday that will spit out snow showers early. It lingers throughout the day and temperatures warm above freezing in the afternoon, so we may see a transition from morning snow showers to afternoon rain showers. Christmas Day and the start of Hannukkah will be noticeably warmer with lows in the lower 30s and highs nearing 40°. That warm trend sticks around for the rest of next week.
