ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Brockport girls basketball team picked up its fourth victory of the season on Thursday night, defeating Webster Thomas 57-52. Brockport started off hot, going on a 9-0 run after Thomas' first bucket. The Blue Devils led 19-8 at the end of the first quarter. Thomas started to close the gap as a 6-0 run early in the second brought the score to 21-14. At half, the Titans trailed by six with the score at 27-21. It was a four-point game with three minutes remaining in the third, but Brockport closed out the quarter with a 9-2 run to pull ahead 41-30 at the break. Thomas rallied back, and with just over three minutes remaining, Kristina Baller knocked down a three-pointer to cut the deficit to two. A pair of free throws from Olivia Bommelje tied it up at 48-48 with under two minutes to go. With 32 seconds left on the clock, Brockport's Janelle Laureano hit a three-point shot to put the Blue Devils back in front for good as they escaped with the 57-52 victory. Lydia Childs led Brockport with 27 points. Hannah Carpenter added 14 and Laureano totaled 11. Brockport (4-2) will host Greece Athena/Odyssey on Monday, December 23rd. Thomas (2-2) will host Greece Athena/Odyssey on Friday, December 20th.
