Union to open 2025 season Feb. 22 in Orlando
Dec 19, 2024
The Philadelphia Union will open the 2025 season in Orlando on Feb. 22, MLS announced Thursday in the release of its season schedule.
The club’s home opener is March 1 against FC Cincinnati, the team that was at Subaru Park for Decision Day last October and beat the Union to ensure it wouldn’t be in the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
The Union travel to Inter Miami March 29, then Miami visits Chester on May 24. That leaves open the possibility that Lionel Messi could be in town; Messi missed last year’s trip to Chester while away with Argentina for Copa America.
Twenty-eight of the Union’s 34 games are home-and-away against the other Eastern Conference teams, leaving just six cross-conference clashes. The Union play St. Louis City FC for the first time, with the 2023 expansion side visiting Chester March 22. The Union also host MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy and Colorado. Roadtrips include to Dallas in May, Houston in July and Vancouver in September.
The Union play four of their last six and five of their last eight on the road to end the season. Their final home game is Oct. 4 against New York City FC. The Union visit Charlotte FC on Decision Day.
