PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Jim Donaldson, a former sports columnist with the Providence Journal, has died, 12 News has learned. Donaldson suddenly passed away early Thursday morning, according to a spokesperson for the Providence Journal. He was 73 years old. A Pawtucket native, Donaldson worked at the Providence Journal for more than 40 years before retiring in 2016. Donaldson leaves behind his wife, three children, and two grandchildren.
