NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams has indicted a group of suspects he says are in a gang called "The Glock Boyz." "I don't want to put young men in jail needlessly, but whenever this violent activity rips across our streets and causes so much injury, so much death, so much mayhem, we have no choice," said Assistant District Attorney Andre Gaudin. Williams was joined by multiple law enforcement agencies explaining the gang members are accused of committing multiple violent crimes in the city and neighboring parishes. Gaudin explains they became aware of the gang's activity earlier this year. "The horrible pistol-whipping and murder that occurred outside the Shamrock bar on Sept. 1 of 2024, to a Sept. 12 shooting just across the street from Kip Central, 30 or 40 rounds discharged," said Gaudin. He also says they were able to match crimes to the gang due to posts made about the incidents on social media. Gaudin believes the group wanted to be recognized. "The right clothing, the right faces, everything that we possibly could use to make sure we had the right individuals for each of these offenses," said Gaudin. He's also issuing a strong message to those who may be involved in criminal activity. "If you are an individual that is choosing to wreak havoc in any part of this city, or if you are involved in a group of individuals that are choosing to wreak havoc in any part of this community whether it's simply intimidating people, you're next up, " said Williams. Williams says arrest warrants have already been issued, for several suspects believed to be responsible for additional crimes in the city.
