KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Wyandotte County commissioners approved a proposal Thursday by Hollywood Casino for a new hotel near Kansas Speedway. The casino had originally received STAR bonds back in 2014 and promised to bring a 250 room hotel to the region within two years after it first opened in Kansas City, Kansas more than a decade ago but it never happened. The new hotel will only have 125 rooms. The exchange for the smaller hotel, Hollywood Casino is offering to give $350,000 more every year to local charities.
