Snow arrives in NE Wisconsin in time for holidays

OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) - Snowflakes flew throughout Northeast Wisconsin in time for a white Christmas next week.
"Christmas is coming, snow is here and that seems right," said Michelle Buss who was shoveling her driveway in Little Chute on Thursday afternoon.
The snow began to fall in Little Chute in the morning and throughout the village's neighborhoods people were out getting an early jump on shoveling.
"I think when it's lighter like this just to take care of it a little at a time if at all possible," said Buss.
"I just got home from work so I decided to start shoveling the driveway so I wouldn't pack it down, once my car is inside the garage I'm going to let it snow for the rest of the day and the night and then attack it with the snowblower tomorrow morning," said Dave Wolf.
STORM TEAM 5: Snow slowly tapers for Friday morning, plan on slick travel
The snow accumulated slowly in the Fox Valley but by the late afternoon there was just enough for some of the kids to get some sledding in before it got too dark.
As people began scraping off their cars and heading home from work, conditions on the road began to worsen throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
"I think the roads were a little slippery right from the get-go and maintained that throughout the day," said Patrick Skorupski. "The only gradual change was the piles of snow between the lanes. Lots of plow truck out but it's hard with that much traffic."
Skorupski is the owner of a local moving company called 'Platinum Senior Movers' and said he had spent most of the day on Thursday on the roads traveling for work.
"My absolute best advice is stay in your lane, don't weave through traffic because that just creates a panic for other drivers," he said. "Just stay in your lane."
Winter Storm Warning: Snow continues overnight
Outagamie County sheriff department officials told Local 5 News that they responded to less than 10 weather-related crashes as of 10 p.m. Thursday. Officials said that because there was a lot of warning ahead of time that a snowstorm was going to hit, people stayed off the road.
An Outagamie County highway department official said they didn't pre-treat the roads for this storm because there was already enough material on the road from last weekend when they pre-treated it for the freezing rain.
County officials remind drivers to slow down and increase their following distance when driving in snowy conditions. They advise people to avoid driving unless they absolutely need to go somewhere.
