NMSU men coast to 8750 win over Northern New Mexico

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KTSM) — New Mexico State men's basketball played its way to an 87-50 win over Northern New Mexico at the Pan American Center on Thursday night.

New Mexico State is now 2-0 against non-division one opponents in the 2024-25 regular season.
Five NMSU players scored in double figures in the contest. Chris Cook and Rob Carpenter each scored a team-high 13 points. Dionte Bostick and Peter Filipovity each scored 12 points and Zawdie Jackson recorded 10 points.
As a team, NMSU shot 50% (34-68) from the floor and 31.8% (7-22) from three. NMSU outrebounded the NAIA program, 41-26, in the contest. NMSU's bench accounted for 36 of the 87 points the Aggies put on the scoreboard. NMSU forced Northern New Mexico into 22 turnovers and scored 31 points off of them.
Northern New Mexico was led by Gabriel Gutierrez and Eloy Medina. Both scored a team-high 10 points in the contest.
With the win, New Mexico State improves to 6-6 on the season. NMSU will play another NAIA program, University of Southwest (N.M.) on Saturday, Dec. 28. That will be the Aggies' last non-conference game of the 2024-25 regular season.
