METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) - At this point in his career, defensive end Cameron Jordan should be slowing down, but instead, the 35-year-old is having a resurgence in the second half of the season after not getting many opportunities in the first nine weeks. It was no secret Jordan wanted more chances to make an impact on the field earlier in the season. Once interim head coach Darren Rizzi took over in November, he got that opportunity and has taken advantage of it. Jordan is coming off his first multi-sack game since Week 16 of 2022 and all three of his sacks this season have come since the Saints fired former head coach Dennis Allen. "I think Cam is a guy that from day one has bought in 100% when we made changes here," Rizzi said. "Not only in the coaches but the way we're doing things. I think he's benefiting from the way we've been practicing. I think he's benefited by all of his years of experience and he's providing a spark for us right now. So it's good to see the old guy in the room kind of providing a spark. And then he comes here every day and you wouldn't know if he was a second-year player or a 15-year guy just by the way, he walks around every day. And so credit to Cam. Love his energy, love his leadership, love his passion. And I'm very, very proud." A big piece as to why Jordan and the Saints' defensive line are having some success at rushing the passer is the changes made to their pass rush when they made the coaching change. New Orleans simplified things and it paid off. The Saints have 18 sacks in the past five games where they had 19 total in the first nine weeks of the season.
