DCFD said a family of four was displaced and a collapse task force will place shoring in the damaged parts of the home.
No injuries were reported and Washington Gas was requested to the scene.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) told DC News Now that the van was carjacked earlier in the day. An Amazon delivery driver reported it was stolen while he was delivering packages around noon in the 1200 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE.
Then, at around 4:20 p.m., officers responded to the home where the van had crashed into. There, officers arrested and charged a man with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
After investigating MPD said the vehicle was the same one that was stolen from Rhode Island Avenue.
