Police are investigating after a 15-year-old was shot in St. Petersburg on Wednesday night.The St. Petersburg Police Department said officers responded to the shooting at TGM Bay Isles Apartments on Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Street North around 6:30 p.m.When they arrived, they found Tomohnd Newkirk, had been shot. Newkirk was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he passed away.Investigators are interviewing witnesses and working to learn more information about the shooting.In the meantime, community members are keeping the victim's family in their thoughts and prayers."The holidays are coming up and now we have a family that's dealing with major loss. It's one of those things where how can you celebrate and be happy when you're dealing with so much right now," said Ashley Limardo with the St. Pete Police Department."During a season where families come together, it's just a tragedy to happen, especially to someone so young is very sad," said Dan Rapsis who lives nearb TGM Bay Isles Apartments.Anyone with information should contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780.
