LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – Border Patrol found 37 migrants inside a tractor-trailer truck near Las Cruces on Dec. 14. Officials said the truck entered the I-25 checkpoint, and agents found the migrants inside. "This is a stark reminder of how ruthless smugglers exploit the desperation of foreign nationals pursuing the American dream," Jason T. Stevens, acting special agent in charge of HSI El Paso, said in a news release. "We are committed to working closely with the Border Patrol on this case and focusing on dismantling transnational criminal organizations that prioritize greed over human life. Together, we aim to create a safer environment and protect those in need." The migrants were apprehended. No other information was provided.
