Clovis cowboy takes allaround rodeo title in Las Vegas

CLOVIS, N.M. -- Clovis native Shad Mayfield captured the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association All-Around World Championship on Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Mayfield claimed the all-around title with $335,474 by competing in tie-down roping, steer roping, and as a team roping header.

"The all-around buckle is really special. I'm going to get plenty of opportunities for a gold buckle in the tie-down roping but the all-around is so much harder to win," Mayfield told PRCA. "You are battling so many other cowboys across other events.
Mayfield told PRCA that he didn't think he'd be in this spot, but he's thankful that he is.
"I think it's the most prestigious buckle you can win in all of PRORODEO," Mayfield said.
