Bishop, Wasatch High School’s assistant principal, will soon take the helm as head principal at his own school.Paul Sweat, the Wasatch County School District superintendent, said in the announcement that the district is “fortunate to have two veteran administrators guiding our high schools into this exciting next-chapter of success.”Kelly, who attended Wasatch High School himself, has spent 24 years working in the Wasatch County School District and started as a teacher at the former Wasatch Mountain Junior High School. He will leave his role as head principal of Wasatch High School after four years. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as the principal of the new high school, and I look forward to building a legacy that mirrors Wasatch’s tradition of excellence while taking our district on an exciting new journey,” Kelly said in a press release. “Constructing the high school was the easy part. Now comes the fun part — infusing it with heart and soul.” Bishop will be stepping into Kelly’s shoes after eight years of work as the Wasatch High School assistant principal. Prior to his appointment in administration, Bishop worked in the Box Elder and Davis County school districts. Sweat wrote that he hopes Kelly and Bishop will be able to foster “a spirit of friendly competition” between Wasatch and Iron Horse high schools. Iron Horse, which is still under construction just west of Heber City near S.R. 113 and 1000 West, will open for the 2026-27 school year.Wasatch County School District voted for the school’s name, which “embodies strength, resilience and continuous progress,” to reflect their hope that Iron Horse High School will “deliver high-quality education and prepare students for the future.”The post Wasatch County School District names principals for its two high schools appeared first on Park Record.
