PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Connecticut woman has been sentenced for her role in an organized burglary ring that targeted homes and businesses owned by people of Asian decent, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Cunha. Basneyareth Rebollar-Martinez, 28, of Stamford, Conn., was sentenced Wednesday by a U.S. District Court Judge to two years in prison followed buy three years of supervised release. Rebollar-Martinez is a Mexican national and may face deportation once released from prison.  Rebollar-Martinez admitted in September of 2023 that she and co-conspirators worked to burglarize at least ten residences in eight states between July 2022 and January 2023. Among the towns in which they operated were Warwick and Smithfield  and Framingham, Mass. These homes were targeted based on the belief that they contained large amounts of cash, jewelry and other valuable items. Forensic audits of defendant cell phones showed communications regarding surveillance of the victims and their places of work. Drones were also used in the conspiracy. After a residence was targeted, members of the conspiracy would act as lookouts while others forced entry and subsequently sold the stolen goods. Categories: Massachusetts, News, Rhode Island
