GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Christmas came early for some Greensboro teachers as they moved into their brand-new schools. “The first spot we’ll go to is the gaming lab. One of the things I want to point out with this lab, no other elementary school has a gaming lab,” said Foust Principal, Kendrick Alston. At the new Foust Elementary School, students are getting a non-traditional education. So students will have the opportunity to be a part of gaming competitions and leagues, those kinds of things,” said Alston. Leveling up what students are capable of in an all-brand new school. Teachers are blown away by everything the new schools include. “I was very excited. When I first walked in I literally took a selfie. It feels like Christmas already. I was so excited by it all,” said third-grade teacher, Cierra Toth. They were also impressed by how inclusive it is for all learning styles.  “The variety of available spaces that were able to be used throughout the school. We have our outdoor learning, the small group learning spaces, a lot of unique furniture especially for our learners that don’t learn the traditional way it’ll be very helpful,” said third-grade teacher, Gabriela Santos. Each detail was thoroughly thought out to make learning interesting and fun for students. “Our district did a wonderful job of visiting schools outside of North Carolina even in North Carolina. And when we did these tours one of the things that became evident to us is that a lot of these district schools were thinking 15-20 years ahead and thinking about the job market,” said Alston. I know how much I enjoyed it and it adult so now as kids, to see their excitement, I’m ready to see it,” said Toth. This is also preparing the next generation for the workforce. “Technology has advanced so much in the past few years that students need different skills so they need a different space to develop these skills as well,” said Alston.
