Amidst snowstorm, authorities in Wisconsin remind motorists to clean off vehicle, urge safe driving

(WFRV) — With a winter snowstorm impacting much of Wisconsin on Thursday, authorities are reminding motorists to fully clear their vehicles of snow and ice before driving.
Wisconsin state law mandates that all vehicle windows be cleared before hitting the road. Additionally, drivers are required to activate headlights during periods of reduced visibility, avoiding reliance on automatic lights.

“They commonly won’t turn on all of the lighting required in these situations,” stated the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in a social media post. “Turn the knob all the way on.”
Authorities are also urging drivers to reduce their speed and prioritize safety while traveling.

“If you don’t do these things, you may have to talk to one of our deputies during your travels,” the post concluded.
Snowfall is expected to continue through Thursday and into Friday morning. Travelers are advised to remain cautious and ensure their windshields and windows are clear to avoid potential accidents or traffic stops.
