EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - In light of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reporting that seasonal influenza activity continues to increase across the country, Albertsons pharmacies are reminding the community they are stocked with vaccines and ready to administer flu shots to help safeguard communities. No appointment is necessary. Flu and other vaccines can be administered on a “walk-in” basis at all Albertsons pharmacy locations, Albertsons said in a news release. Albertsons pharmacists can also consult patients on their specific health conditions and recommend the appropriate formulation of flu vaccine for each member of their family. Albertsons said the flu shot is free with most insurance, so there is no co-payment unless required by the plan. Everyone who receives an immunization will also receive a coupon for 10 percent off their next grocery purchase, where permitted by law, Albertsons said. The CDC recommends that everyone ages six months and older get an annual influenza (flu) vaccine, according to the news release. "The flu is a contagious disease that typically spreads in the U.S. between October and May through coughing, sneezing, and close contact," read the news release. "People at high risk of serious flu complications include young children, pregnant women, those with chronic health conditions, and individuals ages 65 and up." For more information visit here.
