Firefighters 4 Kids receives much needed gift to help continue spreading holiday joy to Columbus families
Dec 19, 2024
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- It’s a new era as Firefighters 4 Kids, which provides toys and gifts for thousands of central Ohio children in need, moves to a new home.
The sorting, packing and distribution will now occur out of what was once a community center in the city’s King Lincoln community. For years, the Firefighters 4 Kids operation bounced from warehouse space to warehouse.
But for the 2024 holiday season, they are working out of a former community center in the King Lincoln neighborhood. Real estate developer Moses Hayelom and his mother purchased the space that was previously scheduled for demolition.
The pair tell NBC4 they have long-term plans to make the space a community hub and in the immediate – were happy to partner with Firefighters 4 Kids to provide a space for the work they do every holiday season.
“This is what Christmas and life is about," Moses Hayelom said. "You know providing to those that may be in need and also to partner with organizations that have a big heart, with love in their heart, to provide to people it just makes you feel as good as possible."
Toy pickup is officially underway but there is still time to register your family if you are in need. For more information, click here.
