Victim identified in deadly Springfield shooting on Fernwold Street

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The victim of a deadly shooting on Fernwold Street in Springfield on Wednesday has been identified.
According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, at around 4:35 p.m. officers were called to the 0-100 block of Fernwold Street near the intersection of Baldwin Street for a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound and was brought to Baystate Medical Center, where he later died.
Springfield police arrest suspect allegedly tied to Stafford St. shooting
On Thursday, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office released the victim’s identity, 48-year-old Jose Lopez of Springfield. Details of any suspects involved have not yet been released.
