HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Hanover County School Board is seeking the community's input on the selection of the next superintendent of Hanover County Public Schools (HCPS).
According to officials, the School Board is using a third-party vendor called Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, or HYA, to assist the Board throughout the selection process.
As part of that process, HYA is hosting the following four community engagement sessions that are open to the public:
Monday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. at Patrick Henry High School, located at 12449 W. Patrick Henry Rd. in Ashland
Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at Mechanicsville High School, located at 7052 Mechanicsville Turnpike in Mechanicsville
Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. via a virtual meeting
Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. via a virtual meeting
According to officials, an online survey will also be available in January to provide members of the HCPS community with the opportunity to provide their input.
A spokesperson for HCPS said information collected from these opportunities will assist the School Board in developing a leadership profile and selection criterion that "match the priorities of the HCPS community and that meet the unique needs of the students who are served through the school division."
Officials said HYA has begun promoting the position and applications will close in February.
Interviews are scheduled to take place in March ahead of the School Board's vote on the new Superintendent of Schools in April 2025.
