NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Christmas is less than a week away. And while it won’t be a winter wonderland in New Orleans, there are still plenty of great events to get you into the holiday spirit…with Reveillon dinners, a cat-themed Christmas show, and more. Here are Where Y’at’s weekend picks!:
Thursday, Dec. 19 and through this weekend, the AllWays Lounge hosts the Acro-Cats’ “Meowy Christmas Special.” Watch cats perform acrobatic feats and see the world’s only cat band, The Rock Cats, play Christmas classics. It’s open to all ages, with part of the proceeds going to Big Easy Animal Rescue.
Next, Thursday, Dec. 19 through next weekend, NOLA Steak will host its Réveillon dinner. Located inside Boomtown Casino, their classic holiday meal includes four courses with entrees such as blackened redfish or filet mignon. For dessert, choose between a satsuma shortcake or a flourless chocolate torte.
Are you ready for some football? Get tickets for Thursday nights, Dec. 19 New Orleans Bowl at Caesars Superdome. It features Georgia Southern taking on Sam Houston State in a battle of Conference USA versus the Sun Belt. Both teams’ marching bands will entertain at halftime.
Finally, celebrate the return of Willie Mae’s fried chicken to New Orleans at their new location Willie Mae’s NOLA on Barrone Street. Open for lunch and dinner, Willie Mae’s is now offering Sunday brunch with DJ Captain Charles performing live. Enjoy their famous fried chicken along with their delicious brunch cocktails.
