Construction worker hospitalized with lifethreatening injuries after being hit by car in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A construction worker is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car late Monday night in Lexington.
According to the Lexington Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. near the intersection of West New Circle Road and Leestown Road, shutting down the outer loop of New Circle Road for several hours.
Investigators say the construction worker was in the road, within a designated construction zone, when a car hit him. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the car was not injured, police said.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
