GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Interstate 85 South is closed as the result of a Thursday afternoon crash, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The crash occurred at Mile Marker 118, near Exit 119 for Groometown Road in Guilford County. All lanes of I-85 South are closed as a result of the crash. The area is a busy thoroughfare in Guilford County as the Groometown Road exit is less than a mile away from where US 29/Interstate 85 Business forks off toward High Point as well as the junction of Interstate 73 and and I-85. There is no word as to what caused the crash or the status of anyone involved at this time. This is a developing story.
