New police chase alert system launches in Brusly. See how it works
Dec 19, 2024
BRUSLY, La. (BRPROUD) - The Caroline Grace Gill Foundation demonstrated how to use a new police chase alert system on Thursday morning.
Two teen girls, Caroline Gill and Maggie Dunn, were killed in a crash on Dec. 31, 2022, during a police chase. After losing his daughter Caroline, Jason pursued the 'Pursuit Alert' system to reduce deadly police chases and save lives.
He talked about how the foundation was started after the deadly accident.
Jason said, "our mission is to assist law enforcement with tools, technology and training to make our departments more efficient and to better protect our citizens and law enforcement officers."
He asked that residents in Brusly download the app.

The Brusly Police Department was the first law enforcement agency in Louisiana to gain access to the system.
The system sends an automatic alert to residents who are in the vicinity of a potential high-speed pursuit.
BPD Chief Jonathan Lefeaux said, "this is some technology we are really excited to implement here in the Brusly Police Department. I think its going to really help save some lives."
Jason said that West Baton Rouge Parish and Iberville parishes have agreed to sign up for the alert.
Earlier this year he said, “Seconds matter. You know, my particular case of my daughter would add a couple more seconds heads up I think it would have a different outcome than we are today."
