Breezy northwest winds will kick up for a few hours behind the front on Thursday morning, ushering in colder air for the end of the week. Despite seeing some sunshine, high temperatures will struggle to get back into the 40s tomorrow. Another cold front attached to a clipper system will roll through on Friday, forcing those temperatures down even more. Most of us will see plenty of clouds but stay dry as this clipper system passes. The only exception will be in western MD and WV mountains, especially west of I-81, where upslope snow is likely. Some snow accumulation is expected, which could cause disruptions to holiday travel plans if you were heading west. Winter officially begins on Saturday, and it will get even colder over the weekend to start the new season. Canadian high pressure will arrive with plenty of bitter cold air, keeping highs in the 20s and 30s each afternoon through Monday despite plenty of sunshine. It will be breezy on Saturday as this colder air arrives, but then it will turn calm on Sunday and Monday. Calm winds and clear skies will cause low temperatures to fall into the teens, especially on Sunday night. Be ready to bundle up if you're beginning your holiday travels or plans during this time.
