FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The two men believed to have killed and hidden a woman's body in Fresno County in 2023 have been charged by the Fresno County District Attorney. The DA says it is alleged that on or about Sept. 1, 2023, 37-year-old Christopher Edward Stephens murdered 26-year-old Micaela Faith Navarro. Attorneys state that Stephens buried Navarro's body somewhere in Fresno County with the assistance of 29-year-old Ryan Randall Sutter. Her body has not been located. On Dec. 16, 2024, officials say Stephens was arrested in Fresno along with Sutters who was arrested a day later. On Wednesday the DA says Stephens was charged with one count of murder and Sutter was charged with one count of accessory after the fact. If convicted of all charges and allegations, attorneys report Stephens would face 25 years to life and Sutters would face three years in prison. The DA says both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 19.
