(KRON) -- Caltrans crews are making an emergency repair to a pothole on I-680 in Fremont, the Fremont Police Department said on X.
As of 3:30 p.m., only one center lane on I-680 northbound at the bridge crossing of Mission Boulevard is open to traffic. All other northbound lanes in the area will reopen around an estimated time of 1 a.m. on Thursday, FPD said.
However, Caltrans announced around 5:30 p.m. that the pothole has been fixed. The estimated time of reopening of the blocked lanes is now 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to FPD, there is currently a traffic jam at the interchanges of Washington Boulevard, Paseo Padre Parkway and most of Mission Boulevard.
"Regional traffic is diverting to Niles Canyon Road and further north via I-880 to I-238 and I-580 in the Hayward area," FPD continued.
Authorities advise the public to use alternate routes and to expect traffic delays.
