Lincoln police ask for assistance locating vehicle of interest after dead dog found in garbage bag

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Lincoln Police Department said it is requesting help from the public on locating a vehicle of interest in connection to a dead dog found over the weekend.
On Dec. 14, Lincoln police were sent to the parking lot of Barney’s Pond on Smithfield Avenue on reports of a potentially dead animal in a garbage bag.
At the scene, police found a deceased canine with clear signs of trauma who appeared to be “severely emaciated,” according to police.
The canine is believed to have been abandoned between the night of Dec. 13 and the morning of Dec. 14.
Police identified a white Toyota Rav4 as the vehicle of interest, and are asking for the public’s assistance with the case.
Anyone with information regarding the ownership of the vehicle that was spotted around Barney’s Pond on Dec. 13, or information related to the deceased animal, is asked to contact Detective Lieutenant Brad Stewart at 401-333-8485.
The case is under investigation by the Lincoln Police Department.
